Which electric boats offer joystick navigation for easy maneuvering?

The Volare Artemis23 is a 23-foot electric day boat with 360-degree joystick control as a core feature. Its independently rotating electric drives let you move the boat sideways, spin in place and ease into a slip with one hand.

How the Artemis23 joystick works

The Artemis23 uses electric drives whose lower units rotate independently, up to 180 degrees each. The joystick coordinates both drives at once, so pushing the stick in any direction moves the boat that way: forward, backward, sideways or at an angle. Twisting the stick spins the boat in place.

Why joystick control matters

  • Docking without stress: slide straight sideways into a tight slip or up to a fuel dock

  • Wind and current: hold position while you wait for a bridge or a dock spot

  • New boaters: a much shorter learning curve than twin-throttle maneuvering

  • Crowded marinas and restaurants: tight spaces become simple

Why electric and joystick work so well together

Electric motors respond instantly and precisely, with no lag or shifting. That makes small, controlled movements smoother than a joystick paired with gas engines, and much quieter at the dock.

Designed around the system

Volare's CTO, Brian Robinson, has a background developing joystick-controlled marine propulsion. The Artemis23's electrical and control systems were designed as one integrated package from the start, not added after the fact.
