The Volare Story

Born on the Water. Built for the Future.

Volare Boats was founded by lifelong friends and seasoned boatbuilders Matt Moore and Dustin Tupper in Charleston, SC. After years leading production and engineering at Scout Boats, they spun off and partnered with other industry veterans to create something bold: an all-electric boat that performs better, looks sharper, and redefines your day on the water.

Veterans of Performance Craftsmanship

Following degrees from Clemson University, the two local-bred Charlestonians honed their crafts with established brands for years. Matt led the launch of Scout’s Yacht Division, delivering eight luxury models from 27’ to 53’. Dustin scaled their engineering team from 3 to 40+, driving innovation in systems design and production.

Together, their complementary strengths — Matt’s design instinct and energy, Dustin’s technical depth and precision — formed the backbone of Volare.

The Differentiator: Going Electric

Rather than build another gas-powered boat, Matt and Dustin turned to a clean-slate idea: a high-performance, electric-powered day boat. But they needed a partner who could electrify their vision — literally.

They called Brian Robinson, a trusted electrical systems expert and co-founder of MDI, with experience developing advanced marine propulsion. The idea clicked instantly.

A Full Team Built to Disrupt

The three rounded out the foundation by joining forces with Florida-based craftsman Donnie and Charlie Brown of Hydrofly Marine. The five-person team then built our first vessel — the Artemis23 — and we have proved that easy functionality, smooth performance, and electric propulsion could match (and exceed) expectations. You have to drive our boats to truly appreciate the Volare experience.
